Jennie Mae McGuire Bennett (1889-1973) was raised on a farm in the Upper Hudson Valley of New York. Her artistic talent was evident in her early teens when her sketches appeared regularly in a national trade publication.  After graduating from Syracuse University with a degree in Fine Art in 1917, she worked as an illustrator in New York City before moving to Vermont to teach art at the Troy Conference Academy.  After her marriage to George Bennett, the couple settled in Utica, NY, where Jennie Mae continued to exhibit her oils, watercolors and charcoal drawings in galleries and museums in central New York through the 1950's.  She never entered the commercial market.
