Dave Breger Mister Breger Daily Comic Strip Original Art (King Features Syndicate, 1950). Former Stars and Stripes cartoonist, Dave Breger, is credited with inventing the term "G.I. Joe," used his experiences as a soldier in a comic panel series entitled Private Breger, beginning in 1941. Breger continued his syndicated panel for King Features Syndicate after his military service, under the title, Mister Breger.
