Ralph De Burgos was a notable Washington, D.C. artist and President of the Society of Washington Artists. He settled in D.C. in 1946 after serving as a combat artist and opened the De Burgos School of Art. Born in Shanghai to Spanish and French parents, he studied art in Japan and New York. His works are featured in the Capitol and U.S. embassies, and he is known for a mural at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church. His abstract style aligns with the Washington Color School, emphasizing color and shape.
