On July 25, 1938, "The New York Times" reported that Babe Ruth drew a crowd of 11,724 spectators to Hawkins Stadium, the largest ever in the state capital. He hit a home run in the first inning, his first since retiring three years earlier. The Albany Senators defeated the Dodgers 7-6, marking the day he hit his "715th" home run.
